Patternized

It's about two years that I've started swing dancing. Entering this community have been a really exciting, I've meet thousands funny people, discovered a new way of listening and interacting with music and with my body... an A++ experience.
After many delays and abandoned sketches I've finally made a pattern with the portraits of some of the people that have started this "adventure" with me..!

Saudade portraits

I went for a three day trip in Lisbon, everything (and everybody) was so colorful and nice. I tried to bring the sketchbook during the visits, but in the end the only place where I found the time to seat and draw was at the airport waiting for the boarding... however once back I've done this quick doodle inspired by some funny surnames my friend S. has invented.

30 day drawing challenge

Now that my studies are over and I've more free time, I've decided to do a drawing challenge: draw one hour a day for all May. I will not follow a schedule, just doodling and finishing and rearranging old stuff, like this drawing...

The Pattern Shortcut

I'm working on a little illustrated child-book for personal purpose.
I found a quick way to avoid drawing background landscapes in my illustrations: to place a big pattern instead...
The second one is about tea break... I don't know if anybody will love to have a hotdog or hamburger at 5 p.m. with muffins and donuts... but it was funny to mix everything.

Carnaval and pink flamingos

If you don't love flamingos it means you haven't seen that in your childhood, and that's a really sad thing...! "Le Carnaval des Animaux" de Saint-Saëns is one of the cd that my father used to make me listen when I was a child, it's an inspiring music.

I've uploaded some process images, it's funny to compare the really detailed sketch with the completely flat intermediate step, eheh...

She said "boobs"

A girl ask me a drawing for commission: an undead female warrior. I said "I hate to draw armors"she answer "A pair of boobs will be enough" so here they are.
If I'll have courage I'll upload on Tweeria this picture too, we'll se if people like it ^^
(I know it's not on the same style of the other one but I'm totally unable to make two similar drawings in a row)

A mysterious huntress

I've done the fist fantasy artwork of my life (if I don't consider the awful drawings of my childhood)!
I've been inspired by a new game I'm playing on twitter, it's named Tweeria and is the laziest RPG game I've ever seen. I totally love it. It's just about to loggin and continue to tweet like always: your character will do all by himself. Brilliant.
So... I make a drawing of a "faceless huntress" one of the races of the game... I hope Tweeria's Team will accept my submission, it would be very funny to see it on the "market".

The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had

The dream starts, I'm wearing some white lolita shoes and a tiny skirt. I follow my own feet in a crowded dance floor, the music is so hight that my brain has decided to stop working and just to follow the beat.
He is dancing with some blonde nymphet, I don't care, I'm dancing too. Suddenly my eyes fell in to some blue eyes, his. He grabs my hand, I fly through the dance floor and then again I look into those eyes in a cloud of smoke. I open my mouth and blow the smoke of my cigarets to his face. He vanishes.

This story has absolutely nothing to do with the drawing, but I had a dream in which I was writing this post and there was exactly this story and then… dunno.
I make different variants of the picture because I was not sure of what kind of results I was looking for. Still I can't say which one I prefer. Perhaps the white one, or the orange, well the green also has something nice…
The main thing is not to try to give a sense to the pic. There isn't any. Or maybe if there's one, it is made of the same substance that dreams are made of. (glycemia)

This little post scriptum is dedicated to Photoshop, who crashed three times while I was drawing this pic. Thanks, I love you like hell.

The Raven, the Howl and Gundam in a yuri scenario

I'm about to disappear, or more likely I'll continue not to appear. The reason is that I haven't put to use my spear time during holidays to continue drawing and tomorrow school will re-start bringing with her a new exams session. How fun!
Well... before I'll horribly die due to the excess of school work I've decided to update one last illustration. This time the title is quite explicative, or at list for me...
As you can see I've tried some new technique like to remove the profile line in some part of the image and to put a lot of colors apparently at random, of course I'm joking the colors are absolutely well considered and balanced.
What else to say... happy new year, I wish you plenty of time full of joy, friends, alcohol and so.

Tentacles and deers

Have you all spent a nice christmas eve, etc? I've received a lot of comics and books for christmas, after that I'll have things to read till April. I've promised myself to draw more during this holidays but of course I've done nothing. However some few weekes ago I had some inspiration and I drew a strange illustration about what you can see above. I've also took some picture of the various steps of coloration because I've a dear friend who have patiently explained me that if I update just one in a month and moreover there's only a picture people will get bored soon... so this time I hope you will demonstrate a bit of enthusiasm...

I don't know which one of the two finals is better, perhaps the one without "eyes"...

PS. If you have recently done strange dreams or you want a portrait or dunno contact my, I'm looking for subjets. (no fee required)

Adventure in your own backyard

Today is a very special day, not only because I've finally decided to update a new drawing, but mostly because there's a specific reason if I've chose december 13th to do it.
This drawing have been loosely based on a friends of mine and today it's his birthday, so I hope he will read this post: "Bonne fête Mr. D!"
I've started to draw that picture when I was in Montréal (a long time ago) and it has take me several weeks to finish to color it... I was never satisfied and I've re-started the entire coloration three times... Still I'm not satisfied of the results, but it was time to end it.
There a link to a track from Patrick Watson that I love to listen when I think about MTL.

Some kind of magic

streghette_witch
So much time has passed by... I've come back to my school routine that has absorbed almost all my energies..! I've found this old drawing in a forgotten folder named "unfinished work from Montréal" and I've decided to bring it to life. I'll offer some chocolate biscuits at the one who will be able to guess from that I've taken inspiration for those five characters. Come on!

I miss me.

Granma is very ill, home is a mess, my parents are getting even more crazy than usual and all the people in this little seaside village are making me depressed (but that's the only really normal thing). Coming back home is a real pleasure (like it was to be expected). While studying my useless anthropology books (I wonder if I am still in a design class) I've found time to re-style and finish this drawing. It's a homage to some not-very-old happy times. Enjoy it for me, because at this moment I feel a bit like Eleanor Rigby and her f**** jar.

The hardest part

It's simple to have new ideas, it's funny to criticize the others, it's... hard to finish one single work in a decent way. Here I am, finally uploading something "new" and finally finishing the 4 pages comics for Crossover. Now my mind is overstuffed of new ideas for fanzines projets, postcard and so one but I'm sincerely asking myself how to increase my determination, because it's quite embarrassing to admit that it has taken about one year to finish those f*** drawings...

I saw a ghost on a sofa

The CCA (Canadian centre of architecture) is a strange building in the city center of Montreal with a odd history. The structure it's a real maze because it binds an old Victorian house with a big modern structure that contains a library and a theatre... but the strange thing is that everybody that work here is absolutely convinced that there's a ghost that haunt the centre. Bill, the night guard, told us a lot of episodes about the ghost's apparitions. So... those drawings are the result of all those stories.

Where's february gone?

Here is a character (the Princess of the Crystal, that's a silly name) from the anime Mawaru Penguindrum (that's an other silly one) in three different styles of drawing; the first one is inspired by McBess, the second has a rough pencil line I take from some illustration of new Tank Girl's comics and an art book of Ashley Wood. The third is inspired by a drawing of Claire Wendling but I wasn't able to reproduce the softness of the line and the colors of her style... neither the proportion she uses... a total fail.
But anyway it was funny to try.

Sexy like a paper cut

When I'm completely bored in my Sundays afternoon I sometimes make things like this.
I'm trying to study new kinds of photoshop brushes and colors matches. I want to find a new way of drawing edges... the black line always looks too "cartoon"...

Wow... I noticed right now that's the first post of the new year! I'll try to make a self portrait next January too and look if there are changement on my style!

Chopin - Préludes

This is the first of the two cd graphic I made for my illustration class final project.
I decide to create a cd-cover for a Chopin work: "les préludes"; my mission was to create an image that young people would appreciate, not the classic abstrait work that we usually see on classic cd-case.
I crate an evocative image following that the music inspired me.
Here the first versione and some sketches before the final version.

This is my dream, what will yours be?

Here an other work for my illustration class, this time the subject were our dreams.
Immagine that a company ask you to represent one of your dream for an advertisement of a sleeping pill. This time I think it's much easier to understand what was my dream about.

Those two are some preliminar sketches I made, the first were my really loved one, but the professor said that the expression of the subjet wasn't clear from this perspective... f***!
Besides... I'm really satisfied of the results.
I re-colored the image two times before the professor was satisfied... he probably thinks that I take drugs, but it doesn't matter... I think the same of him <3

Autopromotion?

That's the picture I drew for the first project of my illustration class. The task was to make a self portrait who tells a particular aspect of our personality. Are you able to guess mine? Sadly I think not... although I've correct this image 4 times...
